Fanxin (also written FanXin) is a Chinese manufacturer from Chenghai in the city of Shantou, Guangdong Province. The full company name is Shantou Fanxin Science and Education Industry Co., Ltd. Among cubers, the brand is best known for puzzle cubes and twisty puzzles with unusual shapes: shape mods, fruit cubes and modifications of bigger cubes. Fanxin cubes and puzzles – the main series

• Fruit cubes – Apple, Lemon, Pear, Peach, Orange and Banana, plus the Fruits 3 Set and Fruit 4 Set bundles. The apple, lemon and pear are shape mods of the 3x3 cube, while the banana is built on a 2x2x3 mechanism.


• Themed cubes – including the Lego Cube, Basketball 3x3 and Nautilus Cube, a Square-1 shaped like a nautilus shell.


• 4x4 modifications – 4x4x4 Axis Cube, Windmill, Fisher Cube and Mastermorphix. They all run on a 4x4 mechanism but change shape when you turn the layers.

What to expect from Fanxin puzzles

A shape mod has a regular mechanism inside, such as 3x3 or 4x4, but its pieces come in different shapes and sizes. Once scrambled, the puzzle loses its original form, so when solving it you have to look not only at the colors but also at the shape. If you can solve a regular cube, you already know the basics. A shape mod, however, adds new situations you won't come across on a standard cube.

Fanxin has also made classic speedcubing cubes, such as the Fanxin Light 3x3 in a magnetic version with Ball-Core. Still, the brand's strength remains unusual puzzles. People buy these models for fun, for their collection or as a change from their everyday cube, not for setting records on the timer. They turn smoothly, but don't expect the corner cutting and stability of high-end speed cubes.
