List of products by manufacturer Cubicle

Cube lubes from Cubicle, the brand of the American store TheCubicle: the Cubicle Labs lines (DNM-37, Silk, Mystic, Lubicle), Angstrom, FZ and Silicone Weight 1–5. You will find both light lubes that speed up your cube and thick core silicones that give you more control.

The Cubicle brand comes from TheCubicle, an American speedcubing store from New York that has been operating since August 2011. It started with a few popular WCA cubes and hand-made modifications, and over time it began creating its own products. At Strefa Kostek, Cubicle mainly means cube lubes, and there are quite a few of them: from light lubes that make your cube faster to thick silicones that give you more control.

Cubicle lubes: series and lines

  • Cubicle Labs is the brand's lab, and it is where its best-known lubes come from. DNM-37 is a water-based piece lube. It absorbs moisture from the air, so it keeps working for a long time, but because it contains water, it should not be applied directly to metal parts. Lubicle 1 is a multi-component silicone lube with Teflon and very low viscosity, made for speed. Silk gives a soft, muted, plush feel, and Mystic is based on aloe.

  • Lubicle is a family of all-purpose lubes. Lubicle Speedy is a lighter version designed to speed up your cube without taking away its smoothness. Lubicle Black also belongs to this line.

  • Angstrom is an experimental brand operating within TheCubicle since 2017. Dignitas is a medium-viscosity silicone with nitride microparticles that settle in friction points and protect the plastic. Gravitas is a thicker silicone meant to give smoother turning and more control. Compound X is a water-based lube that slows down cubes that are too fast, without the gummy effect typical of a thick layer of silicone. Compound V does the opposite: it speeds the cube up. Celeritas is also part of this line.

  • FZ series: FZ-Rush, FZ-Calm, FZ-Glide, FZ-Stealth and FZ-Super Honey.

  • Cubicle Silicone Weight 1–5 are classic silicones in several thicknesses. Weight 1 is the lightest, and each higher number is thicker.

  • The range also includes MAX Fleet and Traxxas 50k.

How to choose a Cubicle lube for your cube

The easiest way is to group these lubes by effect. Light and water-based lubes, such as DNM-37, Lubicle 1, Lubicle Speedy or Compound V, make your cube turn faster and lighter. Thicker silicones, such as Gravitas, the higher Silicone Weight numbers or Compound X, slow it down and help reduce overshooting. Many cubers combine both types: a lighter lube on the pieces (piece lube) and a thicker one on the core and springs (core lube). This lets you tune your cube to suit you: more towards speed or more towards control.

If you are buying your first lube, one medium-viscosity lube, such as Dignitas, is enough to start with. A tip for parents: most speed cubes come lubed from the factory. Your own lube usually comes in handy after some time of solving, when the cube starts to turn heavier or louder, or when you want to change how it feels.
