GAN V100 Maglev UV 3x3

After a long break, GAN has released a 55 mm 3x3 cube again. The GAN V100 MagLev UV 3x3 uses MagLev instead of springs, has core magnets and the same tension adjustment system as the GAN 16, yet it is noticeably cheaper than the GAN 16 MagLev Max. This version has a glossy UV coating, a black internal and a stickerless bright colour scheme.

How does the GAN V100 solve?

The cube weighs approx. 64 g and turns with very little pressure. Under your fingers it feels different from the GAN 15 or GAN 16. Users describe its feel as crisp, with a distinct magnetic "click" and strong auto-alignment that helps you hit your layers. It is fast, yet it still follows your hand well. Some people find it too loose or too fast on the factory settings, which can lead to overturns. A tighter tension or center travel setting usually helps. Thanks to its small size and low weight, your hands get less tired during long sessions, and the cube sits comfortably in smaller hands.

MagLev, core magnets and tension adjustment

• MagLev: the layers are held by repelling magnets instead of springs. Without spring friction, turning is light and smooth.
• Core magnets: magnets acting between the corners and the core stabilize the cube at high TPS. This is not a Ball-Core. According to distributors, the cube has 76 magnets in total.
• Omni-support spherical orbit: a spherical movement path for the pieces which, according to GAN, improves balance and control while turning.
• 72 settings: the key and the adjustment system are the same as in the GAN 16. You set them on two rings (6 clicks on the inner ring and 12 on the outer ring), which gives 12 tension levels and 6 center travel levels.
• Black internal: it looks great, and some people find it easier to distinguish colours while solving.

UV, Frosted or Leap?

The MagLev Frosted version has the same mechanism but a matte surface. The UV version is glossy and offers better grip. The V100 Leap has no MagLev, just classic springs and a matte finish, which gives it a slightly calmer feel.

Who is it for?

For speedcubers who want GAN flagship technology in a compact format without paying for a GAN 16. If you are used to slower, larger cubes, you may need a moment to get its speed under control. For a child's first cube, a simpler magnetic model is usually enough.
