QiYi Cube Guide (Secret Tutorial)

A pocket-sized QiYi book with solving instructions for more than 20 puzzles, from the 2x2 cube all the way to the 7x7, Megaminx and Clock. The QiYi Cube Guide is the second, expanded edition of the guide known as Secret Tutorial for Magic Cubes. The first edition ended with the Square-1. This one has about 120 pages and also covers the Gear Cube, Clock and Kilominx, among others. Each puzzle has its own chapter with colour diagrams and algorithms for each stage.

How to use it

The instructions rely mainly on colour diagrams and standard move notation, so there is very little text. This matters, because the guide is not available in Polish. Before you start, it's worth learning the R, U and F notation and its variants. For bigger cubes, the book shows beginner methods, i.e. reduction to 3x3 together with parity algorithms.

To be fair, this is a guide that helps you solve a given puzzle, not a handbook for breaking records. If you are already learning advanced methods for the 4x4 or Megaminx, you will find a starting point here rather than a complete set of algorithms. The book is small and doesn't always lie flat, so while solving it helps to have something that holds the page open.

The guide is a great fit for anyone who has (or plans to buy) several different puzzles and wants their instructions in one place, without searching for a separate video for each one. It's also a practical add-on to a child's first cube or a gift for someone who collects unusual puzzles. Day to day, it can replace an algorithm cheat sheet that you can take with you to competitions or on a trip.
