Most electronic puzzles are smart cubes. They look like regular speed cubes, but inside they have motion sensors and a Bluetooth module. The cube connects to an app on your phone and sends every move in real time, so the app always knows the current state of the cube. In this category you will find models from GAN, MoYu AI, QiYi, Monster Go and Giiker, as well as a few electronic logic puzzles that are not cubes.
The features depend on the model and the manufacturer's app. These are the most common ones:
For parents, it is a great way for a child to learn to solve the cube with hints on the phone. Speedcubers will mainly benefit from accurate data about their own solves.
You will find the most models in the Smart 3x3 subcategory. It includes the entire GAN 356 and Carry line in UV and frosted versions, including special editions, as well as the GAN 356i v3, GAN i4, MoYu AI, QiYi Smart Cube and Monster Go. The Smart 2x2 subcategory includes, among others, the GAN251 ui. In Others you will find products beyond classic cubes: the GAN ROBOT, which works with a GAN smart cube, the GAN 12 ui megaminx with a charging station, and Giiker logic games such as Super Decoder and Super Blocks.
Budget smart cubes work well for learning and practicing with the app. However, they usually have a simpler mechanism and will not replace every speedcuber's main cube. In the more expensive GAN models, the electronics are combined with features known from speed cubes, such as magnets, UV coating or MagLev (magnetic levitation of the layers instead of classic springs). These cubes are also suitable for everyday speedsolving. Before you buy, check how the model is powered, i.e. whether it has a rechargeable battery or a replaceable one. Also make sure the manufacturer's app works on your phone.
