QiYi Smart Cube 3x3

QiYi Smart Cube is a magnetic 3x3 cube with Bluetooth that connects to a free phone app. The app records your moves while you solve. You don't need to enter times manually or start a timer: each solve is timed automatically from the first turn, and after every solve you can see how long each stage took. It's one of the more affordable smart cubes. QiYi released it in 2024.

What the app gives you

The app provides scrambles, counts down the inspection time and splits each solve into cross, F2L, OLL and PLL. This makes it easy to see which stage slows you down the most. Besides solo training, you can play 1v1 against players from around the world or create a room and race your friends. The cube has no gyroscope. As a result, whole-cube rotations and slice moves may appear in the wrong orientation in the app or may not be shown at all. This does not affect timing or the stage breakdown.

How it turns

Inside there are 48 magnets in the corners and edges. According to users, the magnet strength is medium, and the cube turns smoothly and quietly right out of the box. Turning is fairly fast and gives you plenty of control. Corner cutting is more than enough for everyday use, although it doesn't match flagship cubes. So a smart cube won't replace an advanced speedcuber's main cube, but it works well for daily training with solve analysis.

Tension adjustment

Tension is adjusted by hand, without a tool: just remove the center cap. The set includes a second set of springs with a different stiffness. The cube is powered by a battery that doesn't need charging. The manufacturer estimates its life at around 800 hours of solving. Once it runs out, the battery is replaced.

Color versions

• Stickerless Bright (Speed Version): colored stickerless plastic and more angular corners that help with control during fast solving.
• Black (Art Version): black body with colored tiles and rounded corners. It looks like a classic cube and has the same electronics inside.

Who is it for?

For beginners and intermediate cubers who want to improve steadily and know which stage to work on. It's also a sensible choice if you want to find out whether a smart cube is useful in your training at all before buying a more expensive model.
