MoFangGe is the second name of the Chinese manufacturer QiYi, which makes cubes from 2x2 to 7x7, as well as Square-1, Pyraminx and Skewb puzzles and unusual brain teasers. This name is used mainly for affordable speed cubes such as the Thunderclap 3x3, WuXia 2x2 and WuQue Mini 4x4, as well as accessories: lubes, mats and a backpack.
MoFangGe (Chinese: 魔方格) is the second name of the Chinese company QiYi from Guangdong Province. That is why you can find the same cubes sold as QiYi, MoFangGe or QiYi MoFangGe. This manufacturer of puzzle cubes and brain teasers offers classic cubes from 2x2 to 7x7, as well as Square-1, Pyraminx and Skewb puzzles and plenty of puzzles outside the WCA events.
Under its own MoFangGe name, the company mainly releases affordable, solid speed cubes. The best-known series are WuXia 2x2, Thunderclap 3x3, WuQue 4x4, WuShuang 5x5 and WuHua 6x6. More expensive models for speedcubers are released under the sub-brands The Valk and X-Man Design. The X-Man label includes, among others, the Square-1 Volt, Pyraminx Bell, Skewb Wingy and Megaminx Galaxy. These puzzles are the reason QiYi MoFangGe has such a strong position among competitors in events other than 3x3.
Basic MoFangGe cubes work well as a first cube for learning or for casual solving. They are inexpensive, turn noticeably smoother than toy cubes and handle intensive use well. Magnetic versions (marked with the letter M or "Magnetic") have magnets in the pieces. These help the layers stop in line, so it is easier to avoid lockups when turning faster.
Advanced speedcubers should keep in mind that models from the Thunderclap or WuQue lines are budget cubes. They do not have elaborate tension adjustment systems or features such as MagLev or Ball-Core. If you want a flagship model for competitions, check out the X-Man Design and The Valk products. In that case, MoFangGe cubes will come in handy as backup, practice or collector's cubes. The manufacturer's unusual puzzles are also worth a look.
