FangShi, the brand of the Chinese manufacturer Funs Puzzle, made its name in speedcubing with the ShuangRen, GuangYing, XingYu and JieYun 3x3 cubes. Today it is best known for the LimCube series, which includes unusual collector's puzzles such as the Morpho butterflies, the Dreidel, the 2x2x2 Transform series and the Trefoil Tetrahedron.
FangShi is a brand of the Chinese manufacturer Funs Puzzle. Among speedcubers, it is best known for its older 3x3 cubes from the ShuangRen, GuangYing, XingYu and JieYun series. Collectors, on the other hand, know it for the LimCube series: unusual twisty puzzles with non-standard shapes and mechanisms. At Strefa Kostek, most of the FangShi range consists of these twisty puzzles rather than classic speedcubes.
The first ShuangRen came out in 2013. It was a 57 mm 3x3, known for its very forgiving corner cutting and light, smooth turning. It was later replaced by the ShuangRen V2, which brought a few minor design improvements. The JieYun is built similarly to the GuangYing but uses different pieces. It has shallow recesses for the stickers on the raised tiles, and users described it as fast and fairly clicky. The brand's first 2x2, the ShiShuang, draws on solutions from the ShuangRen series. These models are quite old now and can't compete with today's magnetic cubes. Today they mostly appeal to people who want to explore the history of speedcubing or who collect cubes.
Today, the LimCube series is what draws most customers to FangShi. In our shop you will find, among others:
LimCube puzzles are designed mainly for people who have already mastered the 3x3 and other basic puzzles and are looking for a new challenge. Many of them have no simple, ready-made tutorial, and the versions with a Skewb mechanism require knowledge of several puzzle types. For a child's first cube, a classic 3x3 is a better choice. A FangShi puzzle, however, makes a great gift for someone who already has a sizeable cube collection at home.
