FangShi Master Mixup Cube v1

FangShi Master Mixup Cube v1 is a shape-shifting puzzle from the Master Mixup series, which FangShi releases under the LimCube brand. Some shops list it as LimCube Master Mixup I. At first glance it looks like a large bandaged cube. The surface is divided into many small sections, so it's hard to guess how it turns. Underneath, though, it runs on a Mixup-type mechanism. Once you shift the middle layers, you can make moves that are impossible on a regular 3x3 cube, and the puzzle quickly stops looking like a cube.

How to solve it

This isn't a cube for setting fast times. Mixups require you to understand which moves are possible at any given moment, because shifted layers block some turns (bandaging) and change the shape of the puzzle. The movement itself is fairly logical and easy to figure out, but solving takes a long time because there are many steps. Many people split the solve into several sessions. During the first turns the cube can feel stiff, especially on the outer layers, so give it some time to break in and lube it if needed. It has no magnets.

The Master Mixup series

The Master Mixup series includes several numbered versions, including 0, I, II, III and more. They all look similar, but each has a different cut layout, so every version is a separate puzzle to work out. The v1 is a good starting point if you want to see whether this series suits you before buying the next numbers.

Who is it for?

For people who can already solve a 3x3 and enjoy shape mods, bandaged puzzles or other Mixups. Collectors will like it too, as it looks interesting both solved and scrambled. We don't recommend it as a child's first cube. Without knowing how to solve a 3x3, and without patience, it's easy to get discouraged.
