MoYu Super Aolong 3x3 Maglev 20M Ball Core

After roughly ten years, MoYu has returned to the AoLong series. The MoYu Super Aolong 3x3 Maglev 20M Ball Core is a flagship magnetic cube from late 2025. It uses MagLev instead of springs and has a 20-magnet Ball-Core inside, and you set magnet strength, tension and MagLev repulsion with a single button. This version has a matte surface without UV coating and comes in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

How it turns

Despite the name, the Super Aolong is not a reworked WeiLong V11. The edges and centres are designed differently from the Super WeiLong V2, V10 and V11, and some cubers say the feel is closer to older WeiLongs. A few points come up again and again in user reviews. The cube is very fast and light to turn, and the feel is mostly smooth, with a slightly tactile, "crunchy" character. Corner cutting is rated highly, by some even better than on the Super WeiLong V2.

That speed has a flip side. On loose settings, overshooting can happen, and some users say it's hard to slow the cube down noticeably with the adjustment alone. A thicker lube helps in that case. If you prefer calm, controllable cubes, expect it to take a while to find your own setup.

MagLev, Ball-Core and adjustment

• MagLev: instead of springs, the pieces repel each other with magnets. There is no spring friction or spring noise, and turning feels lighter.
• 20-magnet Ball-Core: magnets in the spherical core pull the corners towards the centre. This makes the cube more stable during fast turning and helps it align layers on its own.
• Triple adjustment with one button: 8 levels each of magnet strength, tension and MagLev repulsion, for a total of 512 combinations. You can set it up light and fast, or firmer with more resistance.
• Lube channels in the edges and grooves in the corners keep the lube in the mechanism for longer.

Which Super Aolong version?

The UV version has the same mechanism and differs only in finish: a glossy coating that gives more grip. This version is made of matte plastic, so the choice mainly comes down to which surface you prefer in your hands. There is also a smart AI version that connects to an app. It makes sense if you want to train with solve analysis on your phone.

Who is it for?

For speedcubers looking for a fast flagship 3x3 with a wide adjustment range who enjoy fine-tuning their setup. It's also an interesting option if you want to switch from the WeiLong V11 to a cube with a slightly different character. Beginners are unlikely to make use of so many settings, so for a child's first cube a simpler magnetic model is usually enough.
