MoYu released this anniversary edition of its smart cube to celebrate the brand's 19th anniversary. The MoYu Super AoLong AI 3x3 M 19th Anniversary is a fully magnetic speed cube with MagLev and Ball-Core. It connects via Bluetooth to the WCU CUBE app and records every move while you solve. After a solve, you can review it move by move, analyze your technique and practice in the app. The Stickerless Bright version has a glossy UV coating.

A smart 3x3 cube with no compromise on size

The electronics are hidden in the core, so the cube keeps the standard 55.5 mm size and weighs approx. 75 g. That's only a few grams more than the version without electronics. Instead of the 20-magnet Ball-Core, you get a Ball-Core with 8 magnets combined with the electronics. In total, the cube has 88 magnets. The battery is rechargeable, and according to distributors, a single charge lasts for approx. 30 hours of solving.

How it turns

The Super AoLong series is known as a fast cube with very good corner cutting. The feel is noticeably more tactile and slightly crunchy, which sets it apart from the smoother WeiLong V11. The magnets in the pieces give a distinct "click", and MagLev replaces springs with repelling magnets, so there is less friction. During fast turning, overshooting can happen. Users also point out that the cube goes through lube fairly quickly. These opinions mainly concern the version without electronics. The AI version has a different Ball-Core, so its stability may feel noticeably different.

AI or the regular Super AoLong 19th Anniversary?

The anniversary version without electronics has a 20-magnet Ball-Core and 100 magnets in total. It weighs approx. 72 g and offers triple adjustment: it adds a setting for the magnet repulsion in the Ball-Core. If you mainly want a cube for solving and as many settings as possible, that's the one with more to offer. The AI version makes sense when you want to collect data on your solves and train with the app.

Who is it for?

This cube is for cubers who want one cube for regular practice and for working with the app, as well as for collectors of special editions. To use the smart features, you need a phone with Bluetooth. If you're buying a first cube for a child, a simpler magnetic cube without electronics will be more than enough.
