Smart 2x2 Bluetooth Cubes

Smart 2x2 cubes are Bluetooth cubes that connect to an app on your phone and track every move. Inside there is electronics with a rechargeable battery, but on the outside and in your hand it is a regular magnetic 2x2 for speedcubing. The app reads the cube's state in real time. This way it knows when you start and finish a solve, and you can analyze the solve move by move afterwards.

What does an electronic 2x2 cube give you?

You don't need a timer for practice, because the app measures the time. Instead of looking only at the final result, you see the whole course of the solve. Both cubes in this category have a gyroscope. It tracks how you rotate the whole cube in your hand, so the 3D model in the app rotates along with it. On a 2x2, where a lot depends on quick case recognition and cube rotations, this makes it easier to spot where you lose time. In the MoYu app you can also play online battles against other cubers.

GAN251 ui or MoYu WeiPo V5 AI?

• GAN251 ui (Smart Cube, UV) detects moves with Hall sensors, meaning without contact between the pieces, and has a gyroscope. It charges wirelessly, and according to the manufacturer the battery lasts about 30 hours. It lets you set the spring tension in 12 levels and the magnet strength in 6, which gives you plenty of room for tensioning. It comes with a factory UV coating.
• MoYu WeiPo V5 AI Gyroscope Core 2x2 has 64 factory-installed magnets, including magnets between the corners and the core. This setup helps stabilize the layers and gives more controlled turning. You can set the compression in 8 ways with a dual adjustment system. The battery lasts about 30 hours, and you charge the cube in its storage box. It is also available as MoYu WeiPo V5 AI Gyroscope Core UV 2x2.

UV version or uncoated?

The UV coating only changes the surface of the cube; the mechanism stays the same. A UV-coated cube is glossy and usually offers better grip. The uncoated version has classic matte plastic. If your hands sweat during fast solving, the UV version can give you a more secure grip. If you like your fingers to slide slightly over the faces, choose the standard version.

Choose GAN if you prefer wireless charging and want to adjust the springs and magnets separately. MoYu is a good fit if you prefer a cube with strong magnetic guidance and charging in a case. Both cubes are suitable for everyday use, both for practice and for playing with the app.
