FangShi 2x2 Frame Pyraminx

FangShi 2x2 Frame Pyraminx is a pyramid-shaped puzzle with a 2x2 cube mechanism inside. In other shops you may also find it as LimCube 2x2 Frame Pyraminx or Framework Pyraminx. From the outside it looks like a pyraminx with distinctive frames. In practice, it is an edge-turning pyraminx built on a 2x2 Ball-Core, so it turns completely differently from a classic Pyraminx.

How it solves

The basic moves are made around the axes of a 2x2 cube, so if you know the 2x2, you will quickly understand what happens to the pieces. A lot depends on how you hold the puzzle, though. When you grip it with your whole hand, turning feels heavy. It is easier to align the pieces and grip individual parts with your fingers on both sides. Once four pieces are lined up in the right position, the core itself can also rotate. According to users, this move makes solving easier, but it can easily cause lockups and the mechanism feels less stable. It is best to do it calmly and without force.

This is not a speedcube. It has limited corner cutting, and what really matters here is the shape and the unusual mechanism. Popping can happen when you drop it, but the pieces can usually be pushed back in by hand. Do not twist the corners, because, as with other puzzles based on a 2x2 mechanism, this can damage them.

Luminous version

We sell the Luminous variant. This is a glow-in-the-dark version made of transparent, coloured plastic that lets you see the inside of the mechanism. After exposure to light, the puzzle glows in the dark and looks great on a shelf.
