QiYi Smart Puzzle Logic

QiYi Smart Puzzle Logic is a logic puzzle, not a cube. It consists of a board and colorful blocks, and the challenges are shown on a small screen in the top left corner. The screen shows where to place a few starting blocks. You have to fit the rest yourself so that the whole board is filled. The electronics give you the challenges and hints and track your time, while the actual solving is done by hand, with real blocks on the board.

How to play

The memory holds 3000 challenges divided into 6 difficulty levels, from "Beginner" to "Legend". Each level has its own color, so you can easily see which stage you are at. There are two modes to choose from:

• Level mode: you work through the challenges one by one or pick the level you want to start from. When you get stuck, the hint button shows where a missing block should go.
• Timed mode: you have 99 seconds to solve a challenge. Your result is graded on a scale from E (failed) to S.

The blocks have shapes familiar from Tetris, and fitting them into the square board trains spatial thinking and planning several moves ahead. The first levels are simple, and kids will pick up the rules quickly. The highest ones can keep adults busy for a while too.

Logic vs. other Smart Puzzle versions

QiYi has released several versions of this puzzle that work on a similar principle. The main difference is the set of blocks. The Logic version uses tetromino-style shapes. The Art version has different blocks whose layout resembles Mondrian paintings. Logic is considered the harder of the two.

Who is it for?

It makes a great gift for kids aged 6 and up, a calm single-player game for the whole family, or a nice break for a cuber who wants to rest from cubes and puzzle over something different. The board is easy to take on a trip. Just remember that it runs on batteries, which are not included.
