MoYu WeiLong V11 AI 3x3 Maglev Gyroscope UV

This is a MoYu smart cube built on the flagship WeiLong V11. The MoYu WeiLong V11 AI 3x3 Maglev Gyroscope UV connects via Bluetooth to the free WCU Cube app for Android and iOS. The app records every move, and the built-in gyroscope also tracks how you rotate the whole cube in your hands. Mechanically, it is a magnetic speedcube with the MagLev system, a magnetic core and a UV coating, so it is not a toy with electronics added to a weak mechanism.

Mechanism and adjustment

In this version, MoYu combined an 8-magnet Ball-Core with MagLev, which uses repelling magnets instead of traditional springs. Distributors point out that no other V11 has this combination. The regular V11 MagLev has 20 magnets in the core, and the 8-magnet Ball-Core is only available with springs. Out of the box, the cube has 88 magnets. MagLev strength and tension each have 8 levels of adjustment, giving you 64 configurations.

The V11 MagLev is a fast cube, and some cubers find it too loose straight out of the box. If that's the case for you, tighten the settings to make the feel more controllable. The electronics also add weight: about 73 g compared to about 67 g for the regular V11 MagLev Ball-Core UV.

Smart features

The app shows real-time statistics and tracks your progress. It also includes tutorials and races against other players. Thanks to the gyroscope, solve reconstructions are more accurate because they take whole-cube rotations into account. The cube is powered by a built-in, non-replaceable lithium-ion battery. According to the manufacturer, it lasts for about 30 hours of solving and is charged in the included case. In user reviews, the mechanism itself performs well, and most comments concern the app.

AI or regular V11?

If all you want is a fast cube for practice, the regular V11 MagLev Ball-Core UV is lighter and cheaper. The AI version makes sense if you want to analyse your solves move by move, time your solves without a separate timer and play online. Also worth considering is the V11 AI Guided Edition with an illuminated core that shows the next moves on the cube itself. This version does not have those LEDs.

Who is it for?

For cubers who already know the basics and want to practise using data. Beginners will benefit from the tutorials in the app, but a regular magnetic cube is enough for simply learning to solve.
