MoYu WeiLong V11 AI 3x3 18th Anniversary Edition is a smart cube built on the mechanism of the flagship WeiLong V11. The cube connects to a phone app via Bluetooth and records your moves in real time while you solve. It has an 8-magnet Ball-Core, MagLev instead of springs and a UV coating. This edition was released to celebrate MoYu's 18th anniversary and comes in a stickerless bright colour scheme.

Mechanism: Ball-Core, MagLev and UV

• 8-Magnet Ball-Core: magnets in the core that help the layers snap into place and keep the cube stable during fast turning. The cheaper V11 versions without electronics have a 20-magnet Ball-Core, so the core magnets in the AI version may feel slightly weaker.
• MagLev: repelling magnets that replace traditional springs. The cube turns lighter and quieter, without the typical spring noise.
• UV Coated: a glossy coating that gives good grip and is more resistant to wear than bare plastic.

This combination, an 8-magnet Ball-Core together with MagLev, is only available in the AI version of the V11 series. So don't judge its feel based on the regular V11 with a 20-magnet core.

What the smart version gives you

Once connected to the app (Android and iOS), the cube tracks your solves in real time. This lets you collect session statistics, analyse your own solves, use tutorials and race against others online. The cube has a built-in lithium-ion battery which, according to distributors, lasts for about 30 hours of solving. The battery cannot be replaced and is charged in a dedicated case.

How is the 18th Anniversary Edition different?

The mechanism and electronics are the same as in the standard V11 AI (MagLev + UV). The difference is in the looks: the anniversary edition has transparent internal parts and collector's packaging. If you don't need the smart features, you can choose the cheaper WeiLong V11 with a 20-magnet Ball-Core and MagLev.

Who is it for?

For cubers who train regularly and want to analyse their solves with data, not just the time on the timer. For collectors, it is also an anniversary version of the popular WeiLong. For a child's first cube, a simpler magnetic model without electronics is usually enough.
