GAN Robot Arthur

GAN Robot Arthur

GAN Robot Arthur is a cube-solving robot. It scrambles and solves a compatible GAN smart cube on its own. Some shops list it as the GAN Robot V2, because it is the second generation of GAN's robot. It connects wirelessly to the CubeStation app. You place the cube between the arms, choose a command in the app, and the robot scrambles or solves it. A solve takes it about 5 seconds.

What it's useful for

Fast solving looks impressive, but for training, scrambling is the more useful feature. Doing scrambles by hand before every attempt takes a long time, and it's easy to make a mistake. Arthur scrambles the cube to a random state, following the sequence from the app exactly. You just pick up the cube and solve. That makes the robot handy for regular timer sessions and for practising specific cases. It also works as a desk gadget for anyone who likes smart cubes.

How it differs from the first GAN robot

• No need to position the cube before starting. With the Robot V1, you had to set the cube in the correct position every time. Arthur starts working as soon as you insert the cube and recognises its orientation no matter how you put it in.
• Whole-cube rotation in place. The five-axis servo system can rotate the cube by 90° in a single move, without extra repositioning. This makes scrambling and solving faster.
• Status indication. Coloured lighting, a logo indicator and voice prompts show what the robot is currently doing: connecting, scrambling, solving, finished or reporting an error. You can change the lighting colour and the language of the voice prompts.
• Foldable design. With the arms folded, the robot takes up less space and is easier to carry.

Compatibility and power

The robot does not work with a regular cube, not even a magnetic one. You need a GAN smart cube with Bluetooth and centres that fit the robot's arms (four holes in each centre). Compatible models include GAN12 ui MagLev, GAN12 ui SP and GAN356 i Carry E. Older GAN smart cubes may need their centres replaced with new ones, so it's worth checking which cube you have before buying.

Use a 5 V / 2 A charger for power. With a weaker power adapter, the robot may work unreliably.
