GAN Robot – a robot that scrambles and solves GAN cubes

GAN Robot is the first generation of the GAN robot, released in 2019. It scrambles and solves GAN 3x3 smart cubes on its own. You control it with the Cube Station app, available in English on Google Play and the App Store. The robot works only with smart cubes, because it reads the cube's state from the cube connected to the app. It won't work with a regular cube.

What it's useful for

The most practical use is scrambling your cube for practice. In the app, you choose a random or a specific scramble, and the robot performs the moves for you. You don't waste time scrambling by hand, and you won't make mistakes along the way. The robot can also scramble several cubes the same way, which comes in handy when you race your friends on an identical scramble. It works the other way round too: put in a scrambled cube and watch the robot solve it. It's quite impressive for people who don't solve cubes.

How it works

The cube is held by five claws that grip the centers. Four are on the arms, and the fifth is in the base. To insert the cube, you turn the base to the left and press the button that opens the arms. Before starting, the cube must match the state shown in the app and sit firmly in the claws. The newer GAN Robot V2 recognizes the cube's orientation by itself and doesn't need such precise positioning. With this model, this step is necessary. The robot folds flat, so it's easy to store or take with you. It is powered via a USB port.

Two sets of claws included

Newer GAN cubes have different centers than older ones, which is why there are two versions of the claws. We include two sets with the robot: GAN Claw v1 and GAN Claw v2. This makes the robot compatible with all GAN 3x3 smart cubes.
