GAN356 i Carry 4 Frosted is a magnetic 3x3 smart cube with Bluetooth connectivity. The next generation of the i Carry series still needs no charging, because it runs on replaceable button cell batteries. According to the manufacturer, they last for up to 150 hours of solving. The cube connects to the GAN CubeStation app, which records your moves and solves, so you can see at which stage you are losing time. This version has a matte (frosted) surface and a stickerless bright colour scheme.

Mechanism and feel

The cube has 48 magnets in capsules that help the layers align. The core uses an omni-support spherical orbit design, and according to the manufacturer its electronics take up 19.9% less space than before. The pieces have a honeycomb structure that holds lube for longer. The manufacturer states 90° corner cutting. Users usually describe the i Carry 4 as a fast, smooth cube that stays controllable at higher turning speeds. Some opinions, however, say that corner cutting could be better. It is primarily a training cube with smart features, not an equivalent of the most expensive flagships without electronics.

GES Pro+ adjustment

The GES Pro+ system offers 12 tension levels and 6 centre travel levels, giving a total of 72 numbered settings. A setting on one side is easy to repeat on the others, and the adjustment key is included.

Who is it for?

A good choice if you want to track your progress and practise with an app without worrying about charging. It works well for beginners and intermediate cubers, as well as for cubers who want a second cube next to their main one for analysing solves. Frosted means matte plastic with medium grip. The UV version (SSL Limited) has a different finish: a glossy surface that grips the fingers more firmly.
