GAN356 i Carry 4 Minions 3x3

GAN has released its i Carry 4 smart cube in a Minions edition. GAN356 i Carry 4 Minions is a magnetic 3x3 Bluetooth cube with an official Minions licence. The mechanism and electronics are the same as in the standard i Carry 4. What's different is the look: the centre piece has a Minion cap, the faces are "banana yellow", and the inside is denim blue, with magnet capsules in a matching colour. The surface is matte (frosted), and the cube is stickerless.

A smart cube that never needs charging

The cube connects via Bluetooth to the Cube Station app. The app tracks your moves, saves your times and statistics, guides you through the solve step by step and lets you race other players online. In this edition, the app also includes Minions extras: skins, effects and avatar frames. The i Carry 4 runs on replaceable button cell batteries, so you never have to charge it. According to the manufacturer, one set of batteries lasts up to 150 hours of use. That's handy when the cube lives in a backpack or goes to a child who tends to forget about the charger.

How it differs from other GAN Minions smart cubes

GAN has released several cubes in this series, each for a different purpose. The i Carry 4 is a simpler smart cube that the manufacturer recommends for those just starting out with cubing. It has magnets in the pieces, but no MagLev or Ball-Core. Those features come with the more expensive GAN i4 MagLev Minions Edition, the flagship rechargeable smart cube. If you want to learn to solve with an app and you love Minions, the i Carry 4 will usually be enough. A speedcuber looking for a cube with MagLev and Ball-Core should take a look at the i4 instead.

Who is it for?

It's a great gift for a child or a Minions fan who wants to learn to solve the cube with the help of an app. It also works well as a collector's item for someone who already owns other GAN editions. It won't replace a flagship model for competition training, as it isn't designed for that.
