GAN356 i Carry 4 UV SSL Limited is a limited edition smart 3x3 cube from GAN. The cube connects via Bluetooth to the Cube Station app and records every move while you solve. The mechanism is the same as in the regular i Carry 4. Two things are different: a glossy UV coating instead of matte plastic, and the SSL edition look, with a transparent blue interior and limited edition packaging. The colour scheme is stickerless bright.

How it turns

According to reviews and user feedback, the i Carry 4 is light, fast and gives you plenty of control. In your hands it feels more like a regular speedcube than older smart cubes. The cube has 48 magnets of moderate strength: they help the layers settle into place but don't slow down your turns. Corner cutting is fairly forgiving, so the cube tolerates less precise moves. However, there are no core magnets, so with aggressive turning the cube is less stable than flagship models, and some users report lockups or catching. The UV coating gives a stronger grip than the matte Frosted version, which helps during longer solving sessions.

Adjustment

Smart features

Moves are detected by magnetic induction sensors. The Cube Station app shows your times and statistics, replays your solves, helps you learn algorithms and lets you race online. You wake the cube up by turning the white face. It runs on replaceable button cell batteries which, according to the manufacturer, last for about 150 hours of use. No charging needed. The i Carry 4 has no gyroscope, so the app does not show rotations of the whole cube in your hand. The SSL edition comes with digital in-app extras: a skin, an effect and an avatar frame.

Who is it for?

For anyone who wants to start training with a smart cube and doesn't need a model with a gyroscope and core magnets right away. It works well for beginner and intermediate cubers who want to see in the app what to improve. If you prefer a matte surface, you can choose the regular i Carry 4 with the same mechanism.
