GAN 356 i Carry E is a 3x3 smart cube: a Bluetooth cube that connects to the GAN CubeStation app. It is a simpler and more affordable version of the i Carry series. The app shows your solve on your phone, times your solves, saves your statistics and lets you race other cubers online. This version has a matte (frosted) surface and a stickerless bright colour scheme.

How the smart cube works

The cube has no cable or charging port. It runs on two replaceable LR43 button batteries, which last about 150 hours according to the manufacturer. To start it for the first time, turn the white face 360° in one direction within 3 seconds. The cube then switches on and you can pair it with the app.

The i Carry E has no gyroscope. The app registers the moves you make, but the model on the screen does not rotate along with the cube in your hands. This makes no difference for timing, analysing solves or learning algorithms. If you want the app to show exactly how you are holding the cube, choose a more expensive model with a gyroscope.

How it turns

This is a proper magnetic cube with tension adjustment, not a toy with electronics. Sellers describe its turning as fast and smooth, and the magnets clearly snap the layers into place. It uses GAN's standard magnets, while the i Carry 2 has the stronger Turbo system. Tension adjustment is provided by the GES Pro+ system (dual adjustment), so you can set the cube looser for speed or tighter for control. The matte plastic offers medium grip and doesn't pick up fingerprints the way a glossy UV coating does.

i Carry E vs other i Carry versions

The E version has the shortest battery life in the whole series. The i Carry S lasts about 330 hours and the i Carry 2 about 700 hours. The i Carry 2 also has stronger magnets. For everyday solving and occasional app sessions, 150 hours is usually enough. If you train a lot with a smart cube, a more expensive version may be the better choice.

For beginners and casual solvers who want to track their progress in an app without paying for high-end features. The cube also makes a great gift for a child learning to solve. The app helps with learning methods and motivates you to practise.
