GAN 16 ui MagLev Max UV 3x3

GAN 16 ui MagLev Max UV is a 3x3 smart cube built on the GAN16 MagLev Max mechanism. The cube connects via Bluetooth to the GAN CubeStation app and records every move in real time while you solve. In GAN's smart cube lineup it replaces the GAN12 ui MagLev, and according to the manufacturer it is currently the top model in the ui series. It has a UV coating and comes in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

How it turns

If you know the regular GAN16 Max, you won't need to adjust. Users of both versions say the feel is almost the same. The difference is a slightly higher weight, typical of cubes with electronics, and a slightly louder, more pronounced sound than the GAN12 ui. The cube is fast and smooth, with strong auto-alignment, yet it stays controllable at high TPS. The manufacturer specifies corner cutting up to 90° and layer self-alignment up to 30°, which is a bit less than the 40° of the GAN16 Max without electronics. If you prefer slower cubes with more noticeable resistance, you may need a moment to get used to it.

Magnets and adjustment

• 124 magnets: 16 inner, 48 middle, 48 outer and 12 in the rings.
• Dual MagLev: instead of springs, the cube uses magnets that attract and repel each other. This makes turning light, and the cube quickly snaps back to aligned layers.
• 72 settings (Magnetic GES): 12 levels of magnetic tension and 6 levels of centre travel. Each setting is marked with a number, so it's easy to repeat.

Smart features

High-frequency move tracking lets the app replay your solve step by step. CubeStation offers online battles with other players, training modes and tutorials. There is also PiPi, an AI assistant that analyses your solving rhythm and shows you where you lose time. The manufacturer specifies up to 15 hours of battery life in the cube and an additional 30 hours when charging from the GanPod.

Who is it for?

For speedcubers who want to train on a smart cube without stepping down in mechanism quality compared to their main cube. Especially for those who solve on a GAN16 Max every day. If you only need a cube for solving, the regular GAN16 MagLev Max UV will be cheaper. And for your first smart cube, you don't have to go straight for the flagship.
