Cubicle Silicone Weight 1 Lube

Cubicle Silicone Weight 1 is the thinnest silicone lube in the Cubicle series (formerly sold as Lubicle). The series comes in five viscosities, numbered 1 to 5. The lower the number, the thinner the lube, so Weight 1 is the thinnest and least viscous, while Weight 5 is the thickest in the whole line. We sell this lube in a 10 ml syringe, which makes it easy to apply a few drops exactly where you need them.

How it works on a cube

Thin silicone barely slows down movement. Weight 1 won't slow your cube down. Instead, it removes the dry, "scratchy" feel and makes turning smoother. It works best on the pieces, meaning the edges and corners, where the pieces rub against each other. It's a good choice for a new cube that feels dry straight out of the box, and for a cube whose old lube has worn off and lost its smoothness.

Thin lube has one drawback: it usually wears off faster than thicker types. If you solve regularly, you'll need to reapply it from time to time. Weight 1 isn't suitable for slowing a cube down significantly. If your cube is too fast for you or overshoots too easily, a higher viscosity is a better choice.

Which viscosity should you choose?

• Weight 1 and 2: thin lubes that remove dryness and smooth out the feel without taking away the cube's speed.
• Weight 3: the medium viscosity in the series.
• Weight 4 and 5: thick lubes that noticeably slow the cube down. They are also suitable for lubricating the metal parts of the core.

There is no single right viscosity. The choice depends on the feel you like and what you want to use the lube for. Many cubers combine several viscosities, e.g. a thinner lube on the pieces and a thicker one on the core.

Who is it for?

Weight 1 is great if you want your cube to keep its speed without feeling dry. It's also a simple, affordable first lube for beginners. Just put a few drops on the pieces and then do a few dozen turns to spread the lube.
