Cubicle Silicone Weight 2 Lube

Cubicle Silicone Weight 2 is a thin silicone cube lube. It is the second lightest in the Cubicle Silicone series. It works well on the pieces of the cube, meaning the surfaces that the edges and corners slide along. Apply it when your cube starts to feel dry and scratchy, or when you want to smooth out its feel without noticeably slowing down the turning. We sell it in a 10 ml syringe.

How Weight 2 works

The lubes in the Cubicle Silicone series differ in thickness (viscosity), which is marked with a number from 1 to 5. Weight 1 is the thinnest and Weight 5 is the thickest. Thin lubes, Weight 1 and 2, are mainly used to remove dryness and give the cube a smoother feel. The thick versions, Weight 4 and 5, noticeably slow the cube down. They are also suitable for lubricating the metal parts of the core.

Weight 2 is slightly thicker than Weight 1, so it may last a little longer and calm the turning down slightly. Even so, it is still a lube that doesn't take speed away from your cube. It works well in new, "dry" cubes straight out of the box and in cubes that have become louder and less consistent after a lot of use.

How to apply

With a thin lube, a small amount is enough. Put a few drops on the pieces and turn all the layers so the lube spreads out. The syringe makes dosing easier, so it's easier to avoid over-lubing your cube. If the effect is too weak, you can always add a little more lube later.

Which weight should you choose?

The choice depends on what you expect from your cube and what you need the lube for. If your cube is too fast or you want to lube the core, it's better to go for a thicker version. If you mainly care about smoothness and quieter turning rather than changing the speed, the thin Weight 2 is a good starting point. This lube is useful both for someone lubing their cube for the first time and for a speedcuber fine-tuning their setup.
