Cubicle Traxxas 50k Lube

Traxxas 50k is a silicone oil originally made for differentials in RC models. Speedcubers have used it for years as a very thick cube lube. Cubicle Traxxas 50k Lube comes in a 10 ml syringe, so you can easily apply a small amount exactly where it's needed, without pouring it out of a bottle.

Where to apply it

Because it's so thick, Traxxas 50k works best on the internal parts of a puzzle:

• core and screws,
• springs,
• joints on the center pieces.

This is not a lube for the edge and corner tracks. There, thick silicone slows turning down a lot and the cube feels heavy. For the pieces, a thinner lube is the better choice. If your cube gets too slow after applying Traxxas, the cause is almost always too much lube or lube that got onto the outer pieces.

How it affects your cube

Thick silicone lube on the core gives a heavier, more controllable feel and smooths out the turning. It's a good fix for a cube that feels too fast or too loose out of the box. Traxxas 50k stays in the mechanism for a long time, so you don't need to reapply it often. Usually it's enough to add it after cleaning and reassembling the cube.

In practice, a small drop on the core or springs is all you need, followed by a few dozen turns to spread the lube. It's always easier to add more lube than to remove the excess from a disassembled cube.

Who is it for?

For cubers who set up their own cubes and want to add control and stability without changing the magnets or settings. It also comes in handy every time you take a cube apart and need to refresh the core lubrication. If you're buying your first lube and simply want to make your cube faster, it's better to start with a thinner lube for the pieces.
