Cubicle FZ-Glide Lube

Cubicle FZ-Glide Lube

Cubicle FZ-Glide Lube is a piece lube, meaning it is applied to the pieces of the cube. TheCubicle developed it together with Hongyuan Fu (Freddie, "FZ"), the creator of the entire FZ lube series. It is not a silicone lube. It has a partially water-based formula, and its main job is to soften the feel of your cube without noticeably slowing down your turns. This version comes in a 10 ml syringe.

How your cube feels after lubing

FZ-Glide sits between the two earlier lubes in this series. FZ-Calm dampens and calms the cube more strongly, while FZ-Rush focuses on speed. Glide is in the middle: your cube won't be noticeably faster or noticeably slower. Instead, it becomes smoother and quieter. Users often describe this feel as "soft and papery". At the same time, the cube doesn't turn mushy, and its original character is largely preserved. According to the manufacturer, several formulas were tested before release, and two of them were given to competitors at the North American Championship to try out.

If you want your cube to be clearly faster or clearly slower and more controlled, a lube with a more distinct character will work better. FZ-Glide is the best match for a cube whose speed already suits you, but whose feel is too dry, scratchy or loud.

How to use

• Apply it to the pieces of the cube, i.e. the surfaces that rub against each other. This is a piece lube, not a core lube.
• The lube contains water, so do not apply it directly to metal parts such as screws or springs.
• It's hard to overdo it. Using too much tends to soften the cube further rather than noticeably slow it down. Any excess is easy to wipe off the pieces.
• After use, close the syringe with its cap so the lube keeps its properties.

Who is it for?

It's a great "starter" lube for anyone lubing their first cube who doesn't want to risk using too much or completely changing the cube's character. It's also a good choice for speedcubers who want to refresh the feel of their main cube without changing its speed. It works in 3x3 cubes and other puzzles.
