LUBEST™ is our own brand of cube lubes, developed at Strefa Kostek. It all started with a simple idea: a speedcuber should be able to get a good silicone lube at an affordable price, without paying extra for the brand name. The range includes two LUBEST™ cube lubes: XMT 10 and PRO. They have different viscosities, so each one works best for a different purpose.

LUBEST™ cube lubes: XMT 10 and PRO

LUBEST™ XMT 10 is a fast, medium-viscosity silicone lube. It reduces friction, removes that dry, scratchy feel and makes turning smoother. It is most often applied to the cube pieces when you want the cube to turn faster and lighter. Before it went on sale, we tested it for about three months on more than a hundred cubes.

LUBEST PRO™ is noticeably thicker than XMT 10. This means it stays longer on surfaces that work under higher pressure. That is why it is mainly suited to the core, springs and screws. On the pieces, it slows the cube down a little and gives you more control. Users often point out that despite its high viscosity, PRO doesn't "kill" the cube and leaves it with plenty of speed. This is, however, an opinion, not a measured parameter.

Which LUBEST™ lube should you choose?

If your cube feels dry, rough or too slow, start with XMT 10. If your cube is too fast, you overshoot easily or you want to lube the mechanism, PRO is the better choice. Many cubers keep both at home: PRO for the core and XMT 10 for the pieces. This way you can adjust the speed and control of your cube separately.

Both lubes are silicone-based and don't dry out as quickly as light water-based lubes. That makes them a good choice for cubes used every day. A few drops are enough, so one bottle lasts for many applications. For the same reason, it is easy to use too much, and excess lube can come out onto the surface of the cube. It's better to apply less and add more if needed.
