GuoGuan – the MoYu brand with cubes by a single designer

GuoGuan is a sub-brand of the Chinese manufacturer MoYu. Only cubes designed by Guoquan Zhang are released under this name. Every model therefore has the same author, which sets GuoGuan apart from MoYu's main line, where many designers work. The brand's first cubes appeared in 2016. MoYu handles production and distribution, which is why product names often include both brands, e.g. MoYu GuoGuan Xinghen.

What GuoGuan is known for

The brand became famous thanks to its first 3x3 cube, the GuoGuan YueXiao from 2016. At the time of its release, many speedcubers considered it one of the top 3x3 cubes. Further versions followed: the YueXiao Pro with a new mechanism, the magnetic YueXiao EDM and its non-magnetic version, the YueXiao E. The E version weighs about 65 g, so it is very light. It will suit anyone who prefers a cube without magnets with a light, "airy" feel.

GuoGuan Xinghen 2x2 cubes

In the 2x2 category, the brand offers the Xinghen series. Each version differs in a specific way:

• Xinghen – GuoGuan's first 2x2 cube, without magnets. It was made with black, white and colored plastic.

• Xinghen M – the magnetic version. The magnets help hold the layer in place and give the turns a more noticeable, tactile feel.

• Xinghen TSM – a magnetic version from 2020 with cube size adjustment: 50 mm, 50.75 mm or 51.5 mm. This is an unusual feature among 2x2 cubes. However, some cubers see it more as a novelty than as a feature needed for everyday solving.

Who GuoGuan cubes are for

GuoGuan's most important models were created several years ago, so today they don't compete with the latest MoYu or GAN flagships in terms of adjustment systems. If you're just starting out with 2x2 cubes, the Xinghen gives you smooth turning and works well for learning. Experienced cubers reach for GuoGuan mainly out of nostalgia, for their collection or out of curiosity about how the models that once set the direction in speedcubing perform. In our store you can currently find the MoYu Guoguan Xinghen 2x2x2 cube.
