MoYu GuoGuan XingHen 2x2x2

GuoGuan XingHen 2x2x2 is the first 2x2 cube from GuoGuan. GuoGuan is a MoYu sub-brand that releases cubes designed by Guoquan Zhang, whose designs include the YueXiao 3x3. We offer the standard version, without magnets, in black. When it was released, the XingHen was considered one of the stronger 2x2 cubes on the market. Today newer magnetic models outperform it, but it is still a solid cube for learning and casual solving.

How it turns

The corners have a capped design, and the cube handles corner cutting well. Users most often describe its feel as smooth. Out of the box, though, it can be fairly loose and dry, and some people point out the small springs. To get the XingHen working well, you usually need to tighten it and lube it. If you loosen it too much, the cube starts to misalign inside, so don't overdo the loosening. After this setup, the cube turns evenly and rarely locks up.

Tension adjustment

You set the tension with adjustment screws. It's a simple system without separate compression settings, but for a 2x2 it's all you need. If the cube feels too loose or turns too stiffly, a regular screwdriver is enough.

Standard, M or TSM version?

The XingHen also comes in two other versions. XingHen M is the same cube with factory-installed magnets in the corners. It gives a more noticeable "snap" of the layers and is easier to control during fast turning. XingHen TSM is a later magnetic version in which the size of the cube is changed using a special corner design. Without magnets, the cube has a lighter, freer feel, but it helps less with stopping layers precisely.

Who is it for?

This 2x2 cube is a good fit for someone starting out in speedcubing or looking for a 2x2 cube for relaxed solving. It's also a good choice if you like non-magnetic cubes and don't mind putting a bit of work into the setup. A speedcuber aiming for fast times in the 2x2 event will probably be better off with a newer magnetic cube. The cube is suitable for official competitions.
