Hanoiminx – a puzzle shaped like a truncated tetrahedron

Hanoiminx is the brand of Vietnamese puzzle designer Dr. Mai Phu Son. His company, Hanoiminx J.S.C., makes the puzzle of the same name, a twisty puzzle shaped like a truncated tetrahedron. The mechanism is protected by Vietnamese patent no. 17386.

What Hanoiminx is known for

The Hanoiminx has 8 turning faces: 4 flat triangular ones and 4 slightly domed hexagonal ones. It turns a bit like the Master Tetraminx or the Dayan Gem VIII, but the cuts are noticeably shallower, so it behaves differently from those puzzles. The first handmade copies appeared around 2015. A mass-produced version only arrived in 2023.

• Void Hanoiminx Cube (Free Hanoiminx) – a version without centers on the triangular faces. The triangles have no fixed reference point, which makes solving harder.
