List of products by manufacturer Ninja

Ninja releases its own versions of the Ghost Cube 3x3, a difficult shape mod designed by Adam G. Cowan. You solve it according to the shape of the pieces. It is a great next step after the Mirror Cube for anyone who can solve a regular 3x3 cube.

Among cubers, the manufacturer Ninja is known for one puzzle: the Ghost Cube 3x3. In this category you will find Ninja's versions of the Ghost Cube. They are among the more affordable puzzles of this type for anyone who wants to try a harder shape mod than the Mirror Cube.

Ninja Ghost Cube – where this puzzle comes from

The Ghost Cube is not Ninja's idea. It was designed in 2008 by Adam G. Cowan, inspired by Tony Fisher's Golden Cube. The goal was to create a 3x3 modification that is as difficult as possible while having only one correct solved state. For years the puzzle was made mostly in short runs or by hand. A mass-produced version appeared in 2014, and later other manufacturers, including Ninja, started releasing cheaper alternatives.

How it works and how it differs from a regular 3x3 cube

Inside there is a standard 3x3 mechanism, but the cuts are offset and set at unusual angles. After the first move the puzzle loses its cube shape, and every piece has a different shape. Solving it looks like this:

  • you solve by shape, not by colour, just like the Mirror Cube,

  • the orientation of the centers matters too, because the centers have a shape and must be turned to the correct position,

  • once solved, the layers have to line up into a perfect cube, and any misalignment is immediately visible.

If you can solve a regular 3x3 cube with the layer-by-layer method, you have enough of a foundation. Be prepared, though, for your first solves to take quite a while.

What to expect from Ninja cubes

This is a puzzle for relaxed solving and for your collection, not a speedcubing cube. Because of the shape of the pieces, corner cutting is practically non-existent, and moves have to be made precisely, with the layers aligned. The mechanism is simple. The puzzle turns smoothly right out of the box because it is lubed at the factory. Users point out that the center caps can come off. This is usually easy to fix, e.g. with a thin washer.

Ninja releases the Ghost Cube in several finishes. We offer versions with stickers as well as a version with a star print on all sides. The version you choose does not affect how it is solved; only the look is different.
