Galaxy Puzzle – puzzles for collectors

Galaxy Puzzle, also written as GalaxyPuzzle, is a manufacturer of unusual twisty puzzles. The brand brings into mass production designs that for years were available mainly as handmade 3D-printed models. As a result, puzzles previously found only in the collections of a few enthusiasts are now available in regular retail.

What Galaxy Puzzle is known for

The brand works with puzzle designers. Its lineup includes the Andromeda Dodecahedron Plus designed by David Pitcher, a development of his earlier Andromeda Cube, as well as the Hexastar Prism by a designer credited as Mr. Guo. Many Galaxy Puzzle models are jumbling puzzles. After a turn by a partial angle, the puzzle changes shape and some axes become blocked until the layers return to the right position.

  • Icosaminx – an icosahedron-shaped Megaminx in which the layers turn around 12 vertices. After a few moves it loses its regular shape. Available in Black and in the limited Primary and Purple editions.

  • Andromeda Dodecahedron Plus (Unbandaged) – a dodecahedron with 60 axes of rotation, in which every move is a jumbling move. The Unbandaged version has fewer restrictions, so it is harder than the standard one.

  • Hexastar Prism – a large hexagonal prism (approx. 13 cm, approx. 650 g) with deep cuts and a star-shaped arrangement of pieces.

Who Galaxy Puzzle puzzles are for

Galaxy Puzzle makes puzzles for calm, often hours-long solving, not for chasing times. The gentlest introduction is the Icosaminx: inside, it works like a regular Megaminx, so if you can solve one, you already know the basic moves. The Andromeda and the Hexastar Prism are for experienced collectors. Classic 3x3 algorithms do not transfer to them directly, and you will largely have to work out the solution on your own. The models have no magnets or tension adjustment, because in this category what matters is the mechanism itself and the challenge.
