HaiTun – WaveRider magnetic 3x3 cubes

HaiTun (海豚, Chinese for "dolphin"), sold in some shops as HaiTun Cube, is a young Chinese manufacturer of speed cubes. It debuted in early 2024 with the WaveRider magnetic 3x3 cube and, for now, focuses on this single series, developed through successive generations and versions.

What HaiTun is known for

The first WaveRider stood out with extensive adjustment for its price range: 8 tension levels, 8 compression levels and 6 magnet strength levels. The pieces have a heart-shaped texture on the inside which, according to the manufacturer, spreads the lube better and makes turning smoother. HaiTun cubes are quiet, and users tend to describe them as controllable rather than very fast. In the second generation, the manufacturer introduced numbered adjustment, so you can easily return to your favorite setup without guessing with a screwdriver.

Key HaiTun cubes

  • WaveRider V1 – the first generation, available as Standard (48 magnets), Flagship (96 magnets in a double-track layout) and Pioneer with MagLev instead of springs. The Flagship was also released as a limited edition in transparent blue plastic, limited to 200 pieces.

  • WaveRider V2 – the second generation, 56 mm in size, available as Standard, Flagship, Pioneer and Ultimate. All of them have a magnetic Ball-Core plus 8 compression levels and 8 tension levels, giving 64 setting combinations. They differ mainly in the number of magnets: the Flagship has 70, the Pioneer 82 and the Ultimate 94.

Who HaiTun cubes are for

The WaveRider is a good option if you want to try a magnetic 3x3 cube from a brand other than MoYu, GAN or QiYi. The Standard and Flagship versions are a sensible choice for a main cube if you are willing to spend a moment on setup. The Pioneer and Ultimate guide the layers more firmly and suit cubers who value control and stability when solving fast. If you like a very light, loose turning feel, you may need some time to get used to them or loosen the settings.
