HaiTun Waverider v1 3x3 Flagship

The Waverider is the first cube from HaiTun Cube. It hit the market in early 2024, and the Flagship is the middle of the three first-generation versions. The HaiTun Waverider v1 3x3 Flagship has a dual magnet system: in addition to the classic magnets between the corners and edges, it also has small magnets in the feet of the pieces. The manufacturer calls this "double track". In total, the cube has 96 magnets.

How it turns

The magnets are fairly moderate in strength. In user reviews, the cube is usually described as controllable right out of the box, and its corner cutting is rated well. Some people notice that it takes a slightly firmer touch to start a turn than with the lightest top-tier cubes. If you like very light, fast turning, you may need a moment to get used to it, or you can loosen the settings a little. The cube is quiet. The pieces have a distinctive heart-shaped texture, which, according to the manufacturer, improves turning smoothness and helps spread the lube more evenly.

Adjustment and design

• Spring-based dual adjustment: 8 tension levels and 8 compression levels, set with the included tool.
• 6 magnet settings, which the manufacturer lists for all versions of the Waverider v1.
• Reinforced core plus protection against popping and corner twisting.

Standard, Flagship or Pioneer?

All three versions have the same range of tension and compression adjustment. The Standard has 48 magnets in a single track. The Flagship has 96 magnets in a double-track layout and still uses springs. The Pioneer has the same magnet layout as the Flagship, but uses MagLev instead of springs. So the Flagship is a good choice if you want the full magnet system but prefer classic springs. In the second generation (V2), HaiTun switched to Ball-Core, so that is a different design from the one described here.

Who is it for?

For cubers who already have their first magnetic cube behind them and are looking for something beyond GAN and MoYu. The Waverider Flagship offers lots of control and plenty of adjustment options. It also works well as a solid cube for regular practice for intermediate solvers.
