HaiTun WaveRider V2 3x3 Standard

HaiTun WaveRider V2 3x3 Standard is the second generation of HaiTun's magnetic speedcube. The first WaveRider was this manufacturer's debut. The V2 line comes in four versions: Standard, Flagship, Pioneer and Ultimate. Standard is the base version. It has the same adjustment system as the higher versions, but a simpler magnet setup. The cube has the classic 56 mm size and comes in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

Adjustment: 64 setting combinations

The biggest advantage of the WaveRider V2 is its adjustment system with numbered positions. The cube has 8 levels of spring compression and 8 levels of tensioning, which gives you 64 combinations. Each setting has its own number, so it's easy to go back to your favourite setup or set all layers the same way. No need to do it by feel with a screwdriver. You change the settings with the tool included in the set. Looser tension and weaker compression give faster, more flexible turning. Tighter settings make the cube feel more controlled and easier to handle.

Standard or a higher version?

The main difference between the WaveRider V2 versions is the magnet setup. Standard has a basic magnetic system. Flagship, Pioneer and Ultimate get additional magnets in the core, and the top Ultimate version has 94 magnets in total. A more strongly magnetised core usually gives more stability and more noticeable layer alignment. It's a matter of taste, though, and not everyone likes that kind of feel. If you want to start with the WaveRider V2 and see whether its adjustment system suits you, Standard is a good starting point.

Who is it for?

For a cuber who can already solve the 3x3 and wants a cube with precise, repeatable adjustment. It will also suit someone who likes testing different setups. Beginners can keep the factory settings and change them gradually once they know what they're looking for. Speedcubers who want magnets in the core should take a look at the higher versions in this line.
