HaiTun WaveRider V2 3x3 Ultimate

The second generation of the WaveRider comes in four versions: Standard, Flagship, Pioneer and Ultimate. The HaiTun WaveRider V2 3x3 Ultimate is the top one. It has the most magnets in the series (94), a 20-magnet Ball-Core, six magnetic rings and numbered adjustment with 64 combinations. HaiTun (Chinese for "dolphin") is a young manufacturer, and the original WaveRider was its debut. It's an interesting option if you want to try a flagship 3x3 magnetic cube from someone other than MoYu, GAN or QiYi.

Magnets and Ball-Core

The cube has a spherical, 26-point core, and the magnets work on several levels:

• Magnets in the pieces. This is classic positioning: the layers snap into place with a noticeable "click".
• 20-magnet Ball-Core. The magnets in the core pull the pieces towards the centre of the cube. This makes the layers more stable during fast turning and less likely to misalign.
• 6 magnetic rings. According to the manufacturer, they help accelerate turns and automatically align the layers.

Adjustment

Spring compression and centre tension are each set in 8 steps, giving 64 combinations. The settings are numbered, so you can easily return to a setup you know works or copy someone else's configuration without turning screws by feel. Adjustment is done with the HaiTun key included with the cube.

Ultimate or another V2 version?

All WaveRider V2 versions share the same 8 × 8 adjustment system. They differ mainly in their magnet configuration. The Pioneer also has magnetic rings, but fewer magnets in total (82). The Standard and Flagship have simpler setups. With the full set of magnets, the Ultimate can be expected to offer the strongest-feeling positioning in the series. If you prefer lighter, freer turning, you may feel more at home with a lower version.

Who is it for?

The Ultimate is for speedcubers and regular solvers who like a distinctly "magnetic" feel and stability at high TPS. It also suits those who want to fine-tune their own setup. For a child's first cube, a simpler 3x3 magnetic model is usually enough, as the capabilities of this version are only appreciated after some time solving.
