DaYan Lube

DaYan Lube 10 ml

DaYan Lube is a simple, affordable lube for puzzle cubes from one of the oldest speedcube manufacturers. It comes in a small 10 ml bottle with a thin tip, so you can easily apply it drop by drop exactly where it's needed. It's a good everyday lube for 3x3, 2x2 and bigger cubes, including magnetic cubes. It helps when your cube starts to feel dry, squeaks or has simply lost its smoothness.

How this cube lube works

This is a low-viscosity lube, intended mainly for the pieces rather than the core. It reduces friction between the pieces, so turning becomes smoother and more consistent. At the same time, it doesn't change the character of the cube much. It won't noticeably slow down a very fast cube, and it won't turn a heavy cube into a fast one. Instead, it gives a smooth feeling and removes roughness from the mechanism.

If your cube is too fast and you overshoot too often, a thicker lube will work better. DaYan offers those as well, but they are separate products.

How to apply

• For a 3x3 cube, 1-2 drops on the pieces are usually enough. The easiest way is to turn a layer about 45 degrees and apply the lube into the gap.
• After applying, do a few dozen turns on all layers so the lube spreads evenly.
• It's better to add another drop later than to overdo it at the start. Too much lube can make the cube sticky and slower.
• The lube usually needs a moment to spread. The full effect often shows only after a short solving session.

Who is it for?

For anyone who has a cube and wants to take care of it, but doesn't need a set of specialised lubes yet. It's a great first lube for beginners and for parents who want to refresh their child's cube. Speedcubers who fine-tune the feel of their cubes usually reach for more specialised lubes. DaYan Lube can still serve them as a basic lube for pieces or for practice cubes.
