Calvins Puzzle 3x3x5 Siamese Mirror Tall Cube (100mm)

Calvins Puzzle 3x3x5 Siamese Mirror Tall Cube is a fused puzzle. It combines two mirror cubes into one elongated 3x3x5 shape about 100 mm long. We sell the Silver version, which has a black body with silver stickers. All faces are the same colour, so colour gives you no hints. Just like a classic Mirror Cube, the pieces differ in size, and you solve the puzzle by shape, not by colour.

What makes it challenging

When scrambled, the Siamese Mirror loses its cuboid shape and turns into an irregular, asymmetrical form. Your task is to bring it back to its solved shape. The two halves are permanently joined, so you can't treat them as two independent cubes. Before you turn one part, you usually have to align the layers of the other. That means you need to plan your moves ahead, and standard 3x3 algorithms often have to be adapted to the situation.

Ideally, you should already be able to solve a 3x3 before buying, and preferably a regular mirror cube too. Without that experience, the Siamese can quickly become discouraging. The mechanism has no magnets and is not designed for speedcubing. It's a puzzle for relaxed solving, not for setting times.

Tall version

Calvins Puzzle makes this model in two versions: Tall and Short. This page describes the Tall version. If you already have one of them, the other will be a great addition to your collection. Many people, however, choose just one.

Who is it for?

For cubers who already know the 3x3 and the mirror cube and want to try something harder. It's also a good choice for collectors of fused and shape mod puzzles. The silver, metallic shape looks great on a shelf, even when scrambled. As a gift for a beginner, a regular 3x3 mirror cube will be a better fit.
