An unusual puzzle from Eitan Cher's puzzle series, made by Calvin's Puzzle. Eitan's Rolling Star is based on a shape made of three cubes. Inside, a spherical core with 12 arms, designed specifically for this model, does the work. This is the 6-color stickerless version. The pieces are made of colored plastic in red, orange, blue, green, yellow and white, so there are no stickers to wear off or peel.

How solving works

The goal is simple: after scrambling, you need to return the pieces to their original color arrangement. The solution itself is much harder. The Rolling Star mechanism is nothing like a regular 3x3, so knowing the layer-by-layer method will only help with the general approach. You have to figure out how the individual pieces move on your own and build your own sequences from there. The model is also available in 3-color versions. The 6-color variant has more distinguishable pieces, which usually means a bigger challenge.

Mechanism and build quality

The core with arms is a classic design used in collector puzzles. It has nothing in common with the magnetic Ball-Core known from speedcubes.
