Calvins Puzzle Evgeniy BubbleMinx

Calvins Puzzle Evgeniy BubbleMinx works just like a Megaminx but has a different shape. It was designed by Evgeniy Grigoriev, the creator of many unusual puzzles. Instead of the straight cuts of a classic dodecahedron, the BubbleMinx has wavy, rounded cuts, so the corners are rounded, the edges have a different shape, and the face centers have round stickers. It's the same idea as the Venus Cube (Fluffy Cube) for the 3x3, applied to the Megaminx. We offer the black-body version.

How to solve the BubbleMinx

The mechanism is a regular Megaminx, so you don't need to learn a new method. If you can solve a Megaminx, you can solve the BubbleMinx too, because the steps and algorithms are the same. Only the way the pieces are divided looks different. Because of the rounded cuts, the boundaries between pieces are less obvious than on a classic puzzle, so at first you'll need to get used to recognizing which parts of the faces belong to the corners and which belong to the edges.

This is more of a collector's puzzle and something to solve for fun than a tool for breaking records. Don't expect the tension adjustment or magnets found in modern speedcubing Megaminxes.

Who is it for?

The BubbleMinx is a great choice if you can already solve a Megaminx and want the same mechanism in a different form. It also fits nicely into a collection of Calvins Puzzle puzzles and Evgeniy's designs, alongside the Venus Cube and other models with rounded cuts. For your first dodecahedral puzzle, a regular Megaminx is a better choice, as it makes learning the method easier.
