Calvins Puzzle Evgeniy Curvy Megaminx

Evgeniy Curvy Megaminx by Calvin's Puzzle is a shape mod of the megaminx designed by Evgeniy Grigoriev. The corners are rounded, and the cuts, edges and centers are curved. The idea is the same as in Uwe Mèffert's Venus Pillow Cube, also designed by Evgeniy. Mechanically, it is still a regular megaminx: twelve faces, and the goal is to return each of them to a single color.

How it solves

The Curvy Megaminx solves exactly like a standard megaminx. If you already know a method, you don't need to learn anything new. Only the looks change. Thanks to the curved cuts, the colored pieces have unusual shapes, so when scrambled the puzzle looks completely different from a classic dodecahedron.

This is not a megaminx for speedcubing. Some users notice that the turning is quite stiff right out of the box. A few drops of lube usually make it noticeably smoother. If you are focused on times, a typical speed megaminx will suit you better. This model is chosen mainly for its design and the fun of solving.

Color version

Calvin's Puzzle makes this model in two standard versions, black and white, plus a limited blue edition. We offer the Black version, i.e. a black body with stickers.
