A regular 3x3 cube with a world map instead of coloured faces. In the Flag version, every country is filled with its own flag. The Calvins Puzzle Flag World Map 3x3 Cube is a stickerless cube: the artwork is printed directly on the pieces, and each of the six faces shows a different part of the globe. So while you solve it, you can also learn geography and flags.

World map cube vs. classic 3x3

Mechanically it's a regular 3x3, so you can use the same algorithms as on a classic cube. What's different is how you recognise the pieces. There are no six solid colours here, so you need to look at continents, oceans, borders and flags and check whether the map fragments fit together. Even someone who knows the method well will solve it noticeably slower than a standard cube, and beginners will find it a more interesting challenge.

How it turns

The cube has no magnets and no tension adjustment system. It's a simple design without speedcubing features. Opinions on the turning are mixed. Some users praise the smooth turning, while others describe it as a bit scratchy. This is not a cube for breaking records or TPS training. A little lube usually helps in this case.

Flag or standard version?

Calvins Puzzle also makes a World Map 3x3 without flags, which shows only the country outlines. The Flag version is more colourful, and the flags make it easier to match neighbouring pieces. If you want to learn flags along the way, this is the one to choose.
