Calvins Puzzle Flat 2x4x6 Cuboid is a shape-shifting cuboid with a black body and stickers. It has 2 layers in one direction, 4 in another and 6 along the longest axis. The layers are split unevenly, so some turns change the outer shape of the puzzle. As a result, it looks completely different from a regular cube while you solve it.

Why it's called Flat

Calvin's previously released a 2x4x6 in a "pillow" shape with bulging faces. The Flat version responds to customers who asked for the same puzzle with flat faces. The edges are only slightly rounded, and the puzzle has a simple, elongated shape, similar to the TomZ 4x4x6 cuboid from the same manufacturer.

How it solves

According to the manufacturer, the Flat 2x4x6 behaves like a bandaged 4x4x6. All faces can be turned, but the uneven layers block some moves until the puzzle returns to the right shape. This means you have to keep track of both colors and geometry at the same time. Knowing 4x4 and cuboid methods helps a lot, but it isn't enough, because some steps require your own solutions. Users report that the puzzle feels fairly stiff out of the box and loosens up after a few solves.

This is a puzzle for relaxed solving, not for speedcubing. It has no magnets, and the mechanism isn't designed for high TPS. Be careful with fast, imprecise turns.

For people who have already mastered the 3x3 and 4x4, have solved cuboids and want a harder puzzle with an unusual mechanism. It's also a great choice for collectors of shape-shifting and bandaged puzzles.
