The SIDGMAN 2x4x6 Fisher Brick Wall Cube from Calvins Puzzle is a 2x4x6 cuboid shape mod designed by Patricio Sidgman Rivera. Its faces resemble a brick wall, and once scrambled it changes shape and blocks some moves (bandaging). Before your first scrambling move you need to do a setup. This puzzle is for experienced cubers, not for beginners.
This shape mod of the 2x4x6 cuboid was designed by Patricio Sidgman Rivera and is produced by Calvins Puzzle. The SIDGMAN 2x4x6 Fisher Brick Wall Cube is a shape-shifting puzzle for people who have already mastered the classic cubes and a few unusual puzzles and now want something noticeably harder. It is not a speedcubing cube but a puzzle to work out at your own pace.
The idea started from the pillowed 2x4x6 and from Tony Fisher's classic Fisher Cube. Sidgman made the faces flat, without the bulge typical of the pillowed version, and rotated the cut layout by 45 degrees, just like in the Fisher Cube. That is how the 2x4x6 Fisher was born. The Brick Wall version has sides arranged in a pattern that resembles a brick wall. This means the layers are not aligned when you take it out of the box, and before your first scrambling move you need to make a few setup moves.
Once scrambled, the cube loses its shape. In some positions bandaging also appears: some layers cannot be turned until you align others. All dimensions are even, so there are no fixed centers to define the face colors, as on a 3x3. People who have solved it say the first solve takes a lot of figuring out. After a few attempts, however, a single solve takes a reasonable amount of time rather than hours.
The SIDGMAN 2x4x6 series includes three puzzles. The Fisher Cuboid looks the most like the classic Fisher Cube. In the Spiral version, the top and bottom faces form a spiral that at first glance does not look like it can turn at all. The Brick Wall stands out with its "brick" pattern on the sides. All three combine shape shifting with bandaging, and each one looks and solves a little differently.
For experienced cubers and puzzle collectors. Before taking on this puzzle, you should be able to solve the 2x2, 3x3 and 4x4 comfortably and have some 3x3 shape mods behind you. Ideally, you should also know a few shape mods of the 4x4 and larger cuboids, e.g. 3x3x4, 3x3x5 or 4x4x6. This puzzle is not suitable as a first cube or as a gift for a child who is just starting out.
