Calvins Puzzle SIDGMAN 2x4x6 Fisher Cuboid

A 2x4x6 cuboid with cuts rotated by 45 degrees, just like on the classic Fisher Cube. The SIDGMAN 2x4x6 Fisher Cuboid was designed by Patricio Sidgman Rivera and is produced by Calvin's Puzzle. The designer started from the original "pillowed" 2x4x6 cuboid and combined it with Tony Fisher's idea. When solved, the puzzle is almost cube-shaped, so at first glance it's hard to recognize it as a 2x4x6 cuboid.

How it solves

This isn't just another way of solving a 3x3. A 2x4x6 cuboid has a different number of layers on each axis, and with the Fisher modification it changes shape with every move. On top of that there's bandaging: depending on how the pieces are positioned, some moves are blocked at any given moment. Before making a turn, you need to check whether it's possible at all, and solving it requires planning sequences ahead. Once scrambled, it's easy to get lost, and your first solves will usually take quite a while.

This isn't a puzzle for breaking records. It's all about figuring things out, not TPS. There are no magnets, no MagLev or Ball-Core, and no UV coating.

Fisher, Brick Wall or Spiral version?

Calvin's Puzzle released three Sidgman models based on the 2x4x6 in this series. This variant is the closest to the classic Fisher, and you don't need to do any setup before the first move. The Fisher Brick Wall has sides arranged like bricks in a wall, and the Fisher Spiral has a spiral layout on the top and bottom. Both of those versions start with a few setup moves.

Who is it for?

For those who have already tackled NxN cubes, a few 3x3 and 4x4 shape mods and at least one bigger cuboid. It will bring the most fun to collectors and cubers who enjoy working out unusual puzzles on their own. For a first puzzle or a gift for a child who's just starting out, it's better to choose something simpler.
