Calvins Puzzle Super Fisher 3x3x3 Cube

This is a shape mod of the 3x3x3 cube from Calvin's Puzzle, made for those who already know the classic Fisher Cube and want a tougher challenge. Seen from the top and bottom, the Super Fisher 3x3x3 Cube looks just like a Fisher Cube. The other cuts, however, are rotated and run deep through the puzzle, so in practice you solve it more like a Ghost Cube than a regular cube. We offer the black version.

How the Super Fisher Cube works

Inside there is a standard 3x3x3 mechanism, so you turn it the same way as a regular cube. Some moves work like on a Fisher Cube, while others resemble the deep cuts of a Ghost Cube. After just a few moves the puzzle is no longer a cube, and its shape changes with every turn. To solve it, you need to restore both the shape and the colors. The manufacturer compares its difficulty to the Ghost Cube.

Knowing a 3x3x3 method is essential here, but it is not enough on its own. Pieces of similar colors have different shapes, and you need to match each one to its correct place. At first it is also easy to get the orientation of the whole puzzle wrong.

Where does the name come from?

The classic Fisher Cube was designed by Tony Fisher: it is a 3x3x3 cube with its cuts rotated by 45° around one axis. According to Fisher himself, he was not involved in designing the Super Fisher. The name only refers to its similar look.

Who is it for?

The Super Fisher is a puzzle for solving and collecting, not a speedcubing cube. It has no magnets and is not meant for setting records. It will be most fun for those who can confidently solve a 3x3x3 and have already tried simpler shape mods, such as the Fisher Cube, Mirror Cube or Axis Cube. For a child's first cube, a regular 3x3 is a better choice; save the Super Fisher for later.
