Cyclone Boys Metallic 4x4 Magnetic

Cyclone Boys Metallic 4x4 Magnetic is a magnetic 4x4 cube from the Metallic series. The outer surfaces of the pieces have a shiny metallic coating, while the inside of the cube is regular plastic, so the layers turn just like on a standard cube. The model was released in July 2023. We offer it in the stickerless bright version. At 60 mm, it is the typical size for a modern 4x4.

How it turns

Many people expect the metallic coating to make turning worse. According to user reviews, that is not the case: right out of the box the cube is fast and the turns are smooth. The inner layers feel a bit more "blocky", which some people consider an advantage for parity algorithms. The outer layers turn lightly, so the 3x3 stage goes smoothly.

Opinions are not unanimous, though. The factory setup can be quite loose, so if you prefer a tighter, more controllable cube, you will need to adjust it a little. According to reviewers, corner cutting is weaker than in higher-end cubes such as the MoYu AoSu WRM. Some also point out lower stability during very fast solving. If you expect flagship 4x4 performance, keep this in mind.

Magnets

The magnets are factory-installed. They help the layers snap into place and reduce accidental misalignments during faster turning. Without them, a 4x4 cube is noticeably less predictable.

For anyone who wants a magnetic 4x4 with an unusual look, solves casually or is just moving from 3x3 to bigger cubes. The metallic finish makes the cube look great on a shelf, and patterns made on it look striking. It is also a good gift idea. A speedcuber chasing fast times will probably get more out of a flagship model with extensive tension adjustment.
