DaYan 30-Axis-30-Side is a twisty puzzle with 30 faces and 30 axes of rotation. Once scrambled, it looks more like a geometric sculpture than a cube. On a regular 3x3 cube the faces turn around 3 axes, but here each of the 30 faces has its own axis. The axes pass through the edges of a dodecahedron, which is why puzzles of this type very rarely make it into mass production. The Stickerless Bright version is made of colored plastic instead of stickers, so nothing can wear off or peel.

What is a 30-axis puzzle?

With so many axes, the moves overlap, and jumbling and bandaging occur during solving. After certain moves, pieces end up in positions where some turns simply can't be made, and the shape of the puzzle temporarily changes. That's why it isn't enough to pick algorithms for each stage. You also have to be careful not to get stuck in a position that's hard to get out of. For collectors, this is exactly the most interesting part, but it may discourage a beginner cuber.

Turning and expectations

This is not a speedcubing puzzle, so there's no point comparing it with speed cubes in terms of speed or corner cutting. It has no magnets and none of the tension adjustment systems you know from speed cubes. What matters is being able to make the move and keeping the puzzle from falling apart while turning. It's best to turn calmly and align the layers carefully before the next move. The size is rather compact for a 30-faced puzzle, so the pieces are relatively small.

Who is it for?

For those who have already mastered the Megaminx, Skewb and other popular puzzles and are now looking for something unusual for their collection or for a longer challenge. It's also a good fit for fans of jumbling puzzles, such as edge-turning puzzles. For a first puzzle or a gift for a child who is just learning to solve, it's better to choose something simpler.
