DaYan Jewel Cube is a DaYan puzzle with a faceted shape that resembles a cut gemstone. It is not an official WCA event. It belongs alongside the Gem series from the same manufacturer: it turns in several unusual ways, but it is smaller and simpler than those puzzles. At about 60 mm, it sits comfortably in your hand. We offer it with a black body.

How it differs from a regular cube

The Jewel Cube is a shape-shifting puzzle. Matching the colors is only part of the challenge, because the puzzle also loses its regular shape when scrambled. To solve it, you have to restore both the colors and the shape. If you only know the 3x3, be ready for a different way of thinking. Algorithms from the classic cube don't carry over directly, and a lot depends on understanding how the pieces move.

This is a puzzle for relaxed solving, not for chasing times. Don't expect speedcubing features such as tension adjustment or magnets. What matters here is the mechanism concept and the unusual shape.

Jewel Cube and the DaYan Gem series

The DaYan Gem series consists of larger puzzles with many faces. They usually measure from about 75 to over 100 mm and typically weigh from about 100 to over 200 g. The Jewel Cube brings a similar feel to a smaller, easier format. It can be a good introduction before you move on to the more complex models in the Gem series.

Who is it for?

For cubers who can already solve a 3x3 and want to try something outside the standard categories. Collectors of unusual DaYan puzzles will like it too. As a gift for a child, it works best for someone who enjoys brain teasers and has already mastered their first cube. If you're just starting out with puzzles, a classic 3x3 is a better choice.
